Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure stated the attack left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
